Dr. Hans-Werner Koyro from the Institute for Plant Ecology, Justus-Liebig University, Giesen, Germany visited the Institute of Sustainable Halophyte Utilization (ISHU), University of Karachi, in the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan International Linkages program. This project of three years duration involves bilateral collaboration between the scientists of Pakistan and Germany and includes joint research, split Ph.D.’s and mutual visits of faculty.

During his brief visit, Dr. Koyro installed a quick-check-system in our green house for growing plants under controlled conditions, delivered lectures highlighting the eco-physiological aspects of salt tolerance in halophytes and discussed the programmes and problems of the researchers and Ph.D. students of ISHU. His knowledge of the subject and long experience of working on various equipments have been very useful in trouble shooting of some of the difficulties faced by our researchers.
