Biography
Dr. Tabassum Hussain, is a Research Officer and Assistant Professor at
the Dr. M. Ajmal Khan Institute of Sustainable Halophyte Utilization,
University of Karachi, Pakistan. Dr. Hussain obtained his Ph. D. in
Botany/Plant Ecophysiology in 2015 from the University of Karachi,
focusing on salinity effects on Panicum turgidum. Dr. Hussain
completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Chinese Academy of
Sciences (2017-2019).
His work emphasizes the importance of integrating research, teaching,
theory, practice, and creativity in higher education to foster critical
thinking and skill development. He has been a Visiting Assistant
Professor at SZABIST, Karachi since 2022 to date.
He has won multiple research grants, including HEC-funded projects.
He has published numerous research articles focusing on plant
ecophysiology, salinity tolerance, and halophyte utilization in the
journals of international repute.
Dr. Tabassum Hussain has also been a member of editorial boards and
reviewer for numerous scientific journals. Dr. Hussain has also
supervised M. Phil., Ph. D., and master’s level students on topics
related to plant stress physiology and halophyte utilization.
